Shano, CPA John is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of BTE Technologies, a Baltimore-based medical device manufacturer and distributor of physical therapy, rehabilitation and physical assessment testing equipment; BTE also uses its proprietary equipment and software to help employers and payers develop legally compliant physical abilities test programs (pre-employment), and related return to work programs (post-employment), that help reduce workers compensation costs and lost time claims. John was previously a Tax Partner with KPMG, LLP, heading up the firm's Healthcare Tax Practice for the Mid-Atlantic region; he specialized in corporate M&A Tax due diligence, corporate tax restructuring, federal and multi-state tax planning for corporations and their shareholders, and advising foreign-owned corporations on structuring their US operations from a federal, state and local taxation standpoint. John also serves as the Treasurer for Light Health and Wellness (formerly Baltimore Pediatric HIV), a local non-profit organization specializing in serving the needs of individuals and families infected/affected by HIV.
